- Machine Simulation
Automated production with high accuracy demands and costly workpieces,
e.g. in the aerospace industry, requires that machine programs are verified
by means of reliable simulation before risking expensive hardware. This is
especially true for NC programs that are generated in large numbers by
automatic processes. Larosterna's machine simulation VZM enables efficient
program verification, provides extensive post-processing capabilities for
performance improvement and has proven a valuable tool for the planning
and evaluation of different automation solutions.
The C++ libraries libgenua and libsurf provide facilities needed for many
problems in computational geometry, tessellation or mesh generation and
related numerical analysis. As a backend for many core algorithms, a number of
wrapper interfaces to established libraries for linear algebra, such as LAPACK, MKL
and Eigen are integrated. Both libraries are
written in C++ 2011, compatible with a wide range of compilers and available either under a commercial license or, alternatively, the GPL.
- Open-Source Software
Two graphical tools for surface-based aircraft modeling and mesh generation (sumo)
and post-processing (scope) were developed as part of publicly funded research projects
at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Both programs are
freely available in binary form for macOS, Windows and Linux. Moreover, the
entire source code amounting to more than 200 000 LoC can be used under the terms of the
